The fireplace in the corner of the small room. The chimney it connects to up above is visible in photographs from 1912, so there was either a fireplace or stove here right from the beginning. Based on the location of the furring strips and the broken off one that went down the middle, the fireplace may have been covered up in the remodel during WWII.
